Wayfinding & Placemaking Strategy
Whilst at Frost* Collective I led the placemaking and wayfinding strategy for the new Snøhetta-designed Harbourside development, working closely with Hassell, Mirvac and First Nations consultant Rowena Walsh.
Located on a landmark Sydney waterfront site, Harbourside carries a rich and layered history that provides a powerful foundation for world-class architecture and meaningful place-making. Our approach was grounded in understanding and revealing the stories embedded within the site, ensuring that the experience of the precinct extends beyond its physical form to create a deeper sense of connection and identity.
Central to the strategy was acknowledging the Indigenous heritage of the place. The precinct sits within Tumbalong, the original name for the area, which was historically a shared country for the Gadigal and Wangal peoples. Working collaboratively with the broader project team and First Nations guidance, we sought to honour this cultural legacy through a placemaking and wayfinding approach that respects Country, celebrates cultural narratives and embeds them meaningfully within the visitor journey.
