Wholegreen Bakery

Wholegreen Bakery is a Sydney-based bakery chain celebrated for its award-winning, 100% gluten-free breads, pastries, and cakes. A colleague and I were engaged earlier this year to re-design and re-launch Wholegreen Bakery’s interiors and environmental identity. Our design concept was inspired by the alchemy of heat, the transformative process that turns clay into ceramic and dough into bread. This idea is expressed through interiors crafted from baked clay and porcelain in rich terracotta tones, evoking the Australian outback and Uluru to create a distinctly local character.
Materials such as cork and felt were introduced for their natural acoustic properties, while a simple and refined graphic overlay provides clarity and balance. We specified local Australian furniture producers ‘Design By Them’ nook stool and chair and Tom Dixons Lights By keeping the design warm, tactile, and understated, the true hero of the space remains the bakery’s exceptional, high-quality gluten-free offerings.
